The Avona family of fonts are inspired by fantasy games and calligraphy. Carolingian letterforms from the early ninth century guided the round, calligraphic structure and wide shapes. My aim was to capture the essence of fantasy in a typeface, which resulted in a polished humanist serif that is closely related to hand drawn forms. The large x-height and low contrast help with legibility requirements making it a great choice for longer uses of text and flavourful user interfaces.

When combined with Avona as the display typeface, the two work together to visually create a world of magical fantasy while meeting the demands of good modern typography. Avona is currently available in beta on my website.

Novelty Nouveau JNL gets its name from its source of inspiration – the cover of a 1919 piece of sheet music for the novelty tune “America Never Took Water (And America Never Will)”

This Art Nouveau condensed sans serif type design is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The hand lettered title on the cover of the 1914 tune “I Want you to Meet My Mother” served as the inspiration for Nouveau Date JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

A lobby card for the 1929 movie musical “Broadway Melody” features the bulk of the film’s title hand lettered in a playful sans serif style.

This design is now available as Movie Musical JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

SK Barbicane is a family of typefaces named after Jules Verne’s famous book, From the Earth to the Moon. Inspired by Jules Verne’s foresight, it was designed with a synthesis of the future and the past. While it carries sharper and futuristic lines than the future, it also incorporates the organic structure of the past.

All characters have equal dimensions in this font with mono weight and mono space. In this way, you can create regular typographic layouts in your designs.
